O gengibre é bastante utilizado na medicina tradicional oriental. Por ser rico em vitaminas e minerais, ele está na moda e é incluído em cada vez mais pratos e bebidas. A nutricionista Lillian Barros, autora do blog ‘Santa Melancia’, explicou à ‘New in Town’ os maiores benefícios do gengibre.

1. Em termos nutricionais, o gengibre é rico em minerais como o magnésio e o potássio e vitaminas como a B6.

2. Tem uma ação bactericida, ou seja, impede o crescimento de bactérias. O que faz desta planta um ótimo desintoxicante para o organismo.

3. Também é antioxidante, antifúngico, anti-inflamatório, analgésico e antipirético (diminui a febre).

4. Ajuda na digestão de gorduras e no tratamento de problemas gastrointestinais, como náuseas, vómitos e enjoos.

5. Ajuda a perder peso porque aumenta a temperatura corporal, o que faz com que o organismo seja obrigado “a gastar um pouco mais de energia para estabilizar o seu termostato interno de forma a manter a temperatura”, diz a blogueira.

6. Quando é utilizado em cozidos, “estimula o olfato e o paladar", o que contribui para a “diminuição do uso do sal para temperar os alimentos”.
